How we handle your data
Here is exactly what happens to your bank statement. Including the parts that are less convenient for us.
What happens to your bank statement
CSV, XLSX and OFX files are read in your browser. The file itself is not sent to our server.
PDF files are sent to our server for text extraction. If the file is scanned or cannot be read adequately, the whole file or extracted text may be forwarded to an external service.
Transactions initially receive categories using built-in rules. If you select automatic categorisation on the transactions page, the relevant transactions are sent to an external service for category suggestions.
The result page automatically produces an explanation of your figures. This involves processing totals, monthly figures and categories with an external service, including without an account or payment.
Disposable income itself is calculated using fixed arithmetic rules. You can review and correct categories for free before purchase. We never ask for access to your online banking.
AI and automatic categorization
Reelt uses Lovable AI Gateway and Google’s Gemini model for document reading, category suggestions and explanations.
Document reading: PDF files are processed on our server. When ordinary text extraction is insufficient, the service may receive the whole PDF or its extracted text. This content may include names, account details and transactions.
Category suggestions: When you choose automatic categorisation, the text, amount and an internal id of transactions not manually categorised are processed. Transaction descriptions may include shops, subscriptions and employers.
Result explanation: Totals, monthly figures, currency and spending categories are sent automatically when the result page generates its explanation. The overview page can also obtain explanations from aggregated expense and period figures. These features do not send the statement file itself.
This processing may take place outside the EU/EEA. Hosting the database in the EU does not mean all processing occurs in the EU.
Amounts are calculated using fixed arithmetic rules. Review category suggestions and explanations alongside your other information.
Where your data lives
Without signing in, your analysis is stored in the browser for use during the process. It is not saved to a user account in our database. Processing by external services can still take place as described above.
When signed in, uploads, transactions and analyses are saved to your account in our database so they can be retrieved. There is no automatic deletion after a fixed number of days. You can delete saved analyses or your account.
Supabase provides the database and login, with the database hosted in the EU. Lovable hosts the website. External services for document reading, categories and explanations are described above.
How we protect your data
• All traffic between your browser and us is encrypted (HTTPS).
• Our database provider encrypts data while it is stored on disk.
• Your account can only read your own rows in the database. Other users cannot see them.
• If you choose a password that is known from public data breaches, we reject it.
• We keep our systems updated.
We cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong. We can promise to tell you if it does.
How to delete your data
If you are not logged in:
• Click 'New analysis' at the bottom of the result page to clear everything Reelt has stored in your browser.
If you are logged in:
• You can delete a single upload with all of its transactions.
• You can delete your whole account from account settings. That removes your transactions, uploads and reports.
• When you log out, we also clear the data Reelt has stored in your browser.
What you should know:
• We do not delete automatically after a set number of days. Your data stays until you delete it.
• Your payment history at Stripe must be kept for 5 years under Danish bookkeeping law.
• We cannot delete any copies an AI provider may hold in its own logs. Questions about that must go to that provider.
Who else sees your data
We use the following providers to operate Reelt:
• Supabase: database and login.
• Lovable: hosting and AI Gateway for document reading, category suggestions and explanations.
• Google: the Gemini model behind the gateway.
• Stripe: payments.
The information processed depends on the feature. See the sections above.
We do not sell your financial information or use it for ad targeting.
